     Medical Office
Furniture
When looking
for medical office furniture – quality should be first and
foremost in your mind. Patients, doctors and staff alike
make sometimes-grueling use of medical office furniture on a
daily basis - and because of this – your medical
office furniture needs to be as comfortable and as
functional as it is durable.
Waiting room
furniture is in constant daily use by patients and must be
comfortable as no one, especially someone who is not feeling
well, wants to be uncomfortable while sitting for long
stretches in the waiting room. This furniture should also be
easily (and regularly) sanitized. For this reason – you
should avoid medical office furniture that tends to harbor
germs and bacteria.
One good
recommendation would be Enet Furniture’s combo table and
chairs. These come in various combinations and offer fabric
or mesh backrests. The mesh-back chairs would be the
obvious, although slightly more expensive, choice as it
would be easier to clean and sanitize than the fabric
offerings from this company. A two-chair – two-table
all-in-one set goes for just under $600.
It is
absolutely imperative not to scrimp when investing in an
examining table for your doctor’s office. Safety and
ease of adjustment regarding height and position are
important features in this aspect of medical office
furniture.
If your
office demands the best in powered exam tables then the
Clinton Power Echo Image Table on Casters which lists for
almost seven grand but can be realistically purchased for
just over $4,000 online – will meet the most demanding
day-to-day needs of most any doctor’s office.
However,
sometimes a simpler and less expensive table is what is
needed. One I’ve found that would serve as an auxiliary
table in your extra examining room or even in a medical tent
on a battlefield or disaster area would be the Winco
Treatment Table w/Face Cutout. With a paper towel
holder and cutter, adjustable leveling feet, two inch foam
padding and a thick vinyl upholstery covering – this table,
while not adjustable, may be the perfect solution for your
medical office, hospital or medical unit. It can purchased
for under $290 online.
A great
example of a non-powered adjustable table with ample storage
room underneath would be the – Clinton Epic exam Table. And
while this table lists for over $800 – it can be easily
purchased for well under $600 online.
Furniture
for your reception and filing area should be sturdy, safe,
ergonomic and easy to use. Reception desks range greatly in
price, size and functionality. From the simple Brighton
Reception Desk Series (from about $699) to the elaborate
Ovation Custom Reception Desk/Workstation for about $5,000
there is a wide variety of choices on the market
today.
Filing
cabinets should have drawers that slide easily, are safe
(without sharp corners) and are fire-resistant for the
ultimate in protection for your patient’s records. Plan on
investing two to three thousand dollars in a good filing
cabinet. SwabCorp. and Fire King have excellent filing
cabinets that more than fit these
recommendations.
Above all,
remember that your medical office furniture is an essential
and exceedingly important component regarding the ultimate
success of your medical office. So – safety, functionality,
durability, comfort and ergonomic quality should be of the
highest of concerns when selecting your particular medical
office furniture.
